Search Teton County Released Inmates

Teton County released inmates are not tracked in one local jail database. A Teton County released inmate search must connect the origin agency, the jail that handled the booking, and the court or corrections system that authorized the change. Search for Teton County released inmates by first identifying the custody type, then using county release records, the state corrections search, or post-release supervision information. Teton County released inmates may have returned to the community, entered supervision, or moved to another authority. Each outcome leaves a different record trail, and a name missing from a current roster does not settle which event occurred.

Teton County Release Paths

“Released” closes or changes a particular jail stay. It does not always mean that a person walked into the community. Bond, release on personal recognizance, dismissal, time served, completion of a local sentence, probation, and a court order can end county confinement. A transfer to the Idaho Department of Correction, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody also ends one booking while confinement continues elsewhere. The release reason and destination must be read together.

Teton County has no adult jail building. The Madison County detention page says Madison houses people for Teton and performs booking, photographing, transport, and release work. Yet Sheriff Clinton Lemieux stated in a sworn June 2024 declaration that Teton then contracted with Jefferson County and had no Madison contract. The booking date therefore matters. Teton may hold the arrest and transport record, while Madison County Detention Center or Jefferson County Jail holds the physical booking and exit ledger. The Teton court keeps the case and order.

Teton County Release Record Fields

The strongest local proof is an existing booking or release record that identifies the stay and records how it ended. A narrow request helps the custodian find that record. Ask for fields, not a new narrative. The Teton sheriff form explains that the agency produces existing records and need not create a record or answer questions. A system code may be the only recorded release reason, so request the code key if one exists.

FieldWhat it establishes
Name, permitted identifier, and aliasesWhich person the booking concerns
Incident, case, and booking numbersThe link among Teton, the court, and the contract jail
Arrest and booking date/timeWhen the custody event began and which contract was likely in effect
Charges, holds, bond, and court authorityWhy confinement continued or why release was authorized
Release or transfer date/timeWhen the physical jail event ended or changed
Release reason and authorityWhether the exit followed bond, an order, time served, transfer, or another event
Destination or receiving agencyWhether the person entered the community or another form of custody
Booking photographA separate booking-file item, subject to disclosure review, that does not prove release
Roster distinction: A current roster is designed to show present custody. Once a booking closes, the release ledger, court record, or later corrections status becomes the useful evidence.

Request Teton Release Records Twice

A complete Teton County release search can require two county requests. Send the Teton County Sheriff public information request for the arrest, incident number, transport destination, and information returned to the origin agency. Then request the booking sheet, release-ledger entry, reason, destination, and any transport record from the jail that physically housed the person. Madison requests go through the Madison County NextRequest portal. For Jefferson, confirm the current route through the Jefferson County Sheriff.

Use the person’s full name, a permitted identifier, the Teton case or incident number, and a tight date range. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate before chargeable work. The two requests are not duplicates. Teton documents the local arrest and movement out of the county, while the contract jail documents admission, property processing, and the exact release or handoff. A third request to the clerk may be needed for the order that explains the change.

  1. Use the booking date and Teton transport information to identify Madison or Jefferson as the physical custodian.
  2. Ask Teton for the existing arrest, case-link, and transport records, including the receiving facility.
  3. Ask the contract jail for the booking and release entry, with date, time, reason, authority, and destination.
  4. Request a booking photograph separately if it is retained and disclosable.
  5. Compare the jail entry with the public Teton court order and any later IDOC status.

Idaho’s current public-record framework generally requires an agency to grant or deny an Idaho-resident request within three working days or notify the requester that more time, up to ten working days, is needed. The Attorney General says Idaho residents receive the first two processing hours and first 100 paper pages without charge, after which allowed actual costs may apply. Nonresident timing can differ. Current law controls if an older county form states a different rule.

Idaho Release Record Access

The Idaho Public Records Act begins with access unless another law creates an exemption. Idaho Code § 74-102 governs inspection and copying requirements, while § 74-103 governs allowable fees. Law-enforcement records can still contain protected investigation, safety, privacy, medical, victim, juvenile, or source information. Ask for reasonably segregable public portions when part of a record must be withheld.

No official Teton or contract-jail source found in the research publishes a fixed online retention period for released bookings. No verified 24-hour or 72-hour archive was found either. A web result can vanish while a formal agency record remains subject to its retention schedule. Request the specific booking by identifier instead of assuming that an empty web search means the record was destroyed.

Idaho Code § 19-2604 can allow discharge, dismissal, amendment, or set-aside relief in qualifying cases. It is not an automatic erasure of all arrest, jail, and agency records. A separate adult arrest-record expungement route can apply to limited circumstances such as no charging instrument, acquittal, or dismissal. Sealed, protected, and some older material may not appear through the public court portal. The order and statute control what remains visible.

Teton Court Explains Jail Exit

The Teton County Clerk of the District Court keeps the criminal case, orders, and judgments in Driggs even when a person is booked across the county line. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, probation order, commitment, amended order, or revocation can explain why custody changed. The statewide iCourt Smart Search provides the public starting point, subject to sealing and access limits.

Use the court result for legal authority, not the door-out time. A signed release order can precede jail processing. Likewise, an IDOC commitment order explains departure from the county jail but proves continued state custody. The contract jail’s exit timestamp records the physical event. Matching both records prevents a court disposition from being mistaken for the moment of community release.

The official iCourt entry screen shows where a Teton case search begins:

Once the case is matched, read the docket and order alongside the jail ledger rather than treating either record as a complete substitute for the other.

Find Teton County Released Inmates

Start with jurisdiction. A recent Teton arrest belongs first to the Teton Sheriff, the contract jail used on that date, VINE, and the Teton court. A felony commitment or prison release belongs in the Idaho Department of Correction system. A federal sentence belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator. Immigration custody uses ICE. Searching only one of these systems can miss a person whose booking ended through transfer.

  1. Search iCourt and ask Teton which contract jail received the booking. Do not assume that Madison or Jefferson handled every date.
  2. Ask the holding jail whether the event was community release, transport, or a receiving-agency handoff.
  3. Check Idaho VINE for a participating-agency custody event and notification option.
  4. If the case shows an IDOC sentence or transfer, search IDOC and read status, physical location, and sentence rows.
  5. Review the court docket for bond, dismissal, judgment, probation, commitment, or later revocation.
  6. Use BOP or ICE only when the record points to federal or immigration custody.
  7. Request the Teton and contract-jail records when the online trail does not establish the exit type and destination.
A missing name is not a release event. It can reflect transfer, a spelling mismatch, an agency outside the search, a feed delay, or a completed record no longer shown online.

Teton County VINE Release Checks

Idaho VINELink supports a specific-person check across participating Idaho jail and IDOC interfaces. Search the exact name or offender ID, choose the correct agency and person, then read custody status, location, and any scheduled information supplied. A release event is useful corroboration. It is not a certified release ledger, and “no result” can stem from a name mismatch, coverage gap, or feed timing.

VINE can send phone, text, or email status notifications. After opening the matching record, select “Notify Me of Status Changes,” add an offered contact channel, and create a four-digit PIN for telephone alerts. Confirm the registration. When a call arrives, enter the PIN followed by the pound key. Re-register after a transfer when instructed because custody can move between participating agencies.

The official Idaho VINE person-search screen shows the statewide starting point:

For Teton County released inmates, the statewide layer is especially useful because local bookings occur outside Teton, but the contract jail must still confirm whether the event meant release or transfer.

When Teton Jail Releases Happen

Madison confirms that detention deputies conduct releases and transports, but it does not publish the time of day, exit door, property process, weekend or holiday routine, waiting location, or pickup procedure. Those details cannot be inferred from another county’s practice. Call Madison Jail at 208-372-5002 for the particular event if Madison handled the booking. If Jefferson handled it, verify the current facility contact and procedure directly.

This lack of a published routine also limits “released today” claims. No official local 24-hour feed, 72-hour feed, archive, or mobile app was verified. A same-day name disappearance is ambiguous because a transport can occur beside a true community release. Ask for the event type, timestamp, release authority, and destination before arranging pickup or travel.

Teton Release or ICE Handoff

Madison says it houses immigration detainees. An ICE detainer can ask a local jail for notice before ordinary release and for custody for up to 48 additional hours so federal authorities can assume custody. That means a Teton-connected county booking may close through an agency-to-agency handoff, not a return to the community. The local record’s destination and receiving-agency fields become essential.

When the release entry names immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator for current ICE detention. Search with the nine-digit A-number and country of birth when available, or use the name fields. The locator is not a complete historical release database. No result cannot prove community release or removal, so keep the jail transfer record and current ICE information together.

Federal Teton Release Records

The Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 onward. Search by the federal register number in its number format, or by name with optional identifying fields. Results can show the register number, basic identity fields, location or status, and release date. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” concerns BOP custody only. It does not rule out supervision, state confinement, ICE custody, or another authority.

The official BOP locator screen displays both number and name search routes:

Federal BOP search for a Teton County released inmate

A federal court order or BOP record should confirm the event when the locator’s short status does not answer whether another agency received the person.

Teton County Release Facilities

Teton release records can be divided between two contract-jail paths. Confirm the facility from the arrest date and transport record before requesting a ledger.

  • Madison County Detention Center officially says it houses people for Teton. Its record can distinguish a community exit from a transport.
  • Jefferson County Jail was identified as Teton’s contractor in a sworn June 2024 declaration. Its booking record should show the physical exit and destination.

Neither facility should be assumed for every Teton County released inmate. The changing contract trail is why the Teton transport record, contract-jail ledger, and Teton court order work best as a matched set.
